The United Nations is convening a three-day summit of world leaders to assess the global economic crisis and its impact on development. The meeting was mandated at the Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development, held in December 2008 in Doha, Qatar. The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) invites you to several parallel events co-organized with other UN agencies, NGOs, governments and partners in the context of the summit.

Making Economic Stimulus Packages Work for Women [Flyer]

The panel will explore whether economic stimulus packages allocate resources for women’s issues and move beyond one-time subsidies to gender-equitable job creation, social services provisioning and social protection within a rights-based framework. Seminar: Analyzing the Current Economic Crisis and Gender Perspectives in Latin America [Flyer]

The seminar will focus on the impacts of the economic crisis and discuss measures and public policies that the Latin American and Caribbean region could put forward to avoid negative long-term development consequences.
