To mark the 30th anniversary of CEDAW, UNIFEM's Swedish National Committee is planning a range of campaign activities in six different cities around Sweden. The activities include evening receptions, full-day information seminars, debates with expert panels, theatre plays portaying violence against women, interactive lectures and much more. All activities feature a wide variety of experts and professionals working towards equality between women and men at all levels.
Attached are the campaign illustrations, which can be used on T-shirts, pins, bags and more. Gothenburg
- 24-27 September 2009: UNIFEM National Committee launches the campaign at ”Bok och Biblioteksmässan”, the annual grand book fair that attracts over 100 000 visitors. During the exhibition we arrange a range of seminars including a seminar on child prostitution starring Lydia Cacho, on how to use CEDAW in education, on women and peace, on maternal mortality, on VaW and more. - 7 October and 9 November 2009: ”Why do we need CEDAW?” interactive seminar with Agneta Johansson, ILAC and Simone Lindsten. ”What’s up with equality in Gothenburg?” Panel with local politicians and media professionals. Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg. 6pm
- 8 December 2009: "More fun outside of the box" interactive seminar on article 5 and how to think and act against the norm. Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg.
- 20 January 2010: Seminar Series, Part 1, "Women are disfavored in Swedish hospitals." On the unequal treatment of patients. Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg.
- 17 February 2010: Seminar Series, Part 2, "Cheap women, cheap clothes?" On the importance of fair work and production. On the unequal treatment of patients. Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg.
- 16 March 2010: Seminar Series, Part 3, "Art has nothing to do with equality. Or?" Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg.
- 14 April 2010: Seminar Series, Part 4, Theatre play on article 16 of CEDAW, followed by an interactive panel debate on how to achieve full equality within the family. Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg.
- 4 May 2010: Seminar Series, Part 5, Theatre play on violence against women, followed by an interactive drama session involving the spectators. Time: 6pm. Venue: Lagerhuset, Heurlins plats 2, near Järntorget, Göteborg.
Örebro
- 11 November: Evening reception with short lectures, speeches and music, following a full day of seminars on equality and women’s rights. Venue: City konferenscenter, (SCB) Örebro. 1.15pm-21pm
Malmö:
- 14 November: Half day course for people working in women’s organizations on how to use CEDAW in their work. Venue: TBC.
Visby:
- 25 November: Evening reception with a theatre play on article 16 of CEDAW, followed by a panel debate on how to achieve full equality within the family. Venue: TBC.
Stockholm

Umeå
- 28 November: Full day women’s convent focusing on article 11 of CEDAW, with a range of seminars and lectures on different angles of women and work. Venue: Västerbottens Museum, Umeå.
