Resource Guide for Gender Theme Groups

This resource guide provides practical guidance to UN Theme Groups on Gender on how to increase effectiveness at the country level in incorporating gender equality and women's empowerment issues into interagency collaboration mechanisms, including the preparation of Common Country Assessment/UN Development Assistance Framework (CCA/UNDAF) documents as well as work around the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs). The guide highlights the importance of successful experiences in developing a sense of purpose, clear workplans, and a commitment from UN Country Teams to coalesce around promoting women's rights and gender equality. It features tips, examples, good practices, concrete tools, and suggested organizational structures to enable theme group members to build on one another's positive experiences and support the commitment of UN Country Teams to gender mainstreaming.
