Talk on "Say NO to Violence against Women". The president of the Irish National Comittee for UNIFEM was invited to speak about "Violence against Women" at an International Training Course held in Dublin organized by the UN for the Irish Defence Force. The participants were from six different countries and the Irish Army. Location: Dublin.

16 Days Luncheon – Trafficking. The New York Chapter of the US National Committee for UNIFEM had a luncheon in anticipation of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence. Featured speaker was Ambassador Mark Lagon, Director, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, U.S. Department of State. He spoke on the issue of trafficking. 16 Forme di Violenza di Genere – Sensitization Campaign. The Italian National Committee for UNIFEM is conducting an information and sensitization campaign regarding the different forms and kinds of gender-based violence during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence. Drawing on the UNFPA campaign, "Can you name 16 forms of gender-based violence?," they prepared a document in Italian containing information, facts and figures on 16 different forms of violence against women, which they are distributing to Italian Zonta Clubs and other associations, such as the White Ribbon, Lions, Rotary, as well as to local government institutions (municipalities, provinces, districts, etc.). White Ribbon Campaign. The US National Committee for UNIFEM is organizing a White Ribbon Campaign to be promoted by US chapters. The campaign focuses men's attention on violence against women and challenges them to take an active part in ending this violence. Men are encouraged to wear a white ribbon as a personal pledge that they do not condone violence against women and that they are committed to community action to stop violence by men against women. Location: Throughout the US.

Carol Singing to Raise Awareness and Funds for the "Refugee Women in Afghanistan" Project. The Irish UNIFEM Committee in conjunction with a local Dublin School organized a carol singing event on at one of Dublin's largest shopping centres. The aim of this event was for publicity of UNIFEM's work and to raise funds for our project "Refugee Women in Afghanistan." Location: Dublin.
