AIDS 2006

The International AIDS Conference, which takes place every two years, was held 13–18 August 2006 in Toronto, Canada. This year’s theme, “Time to Deliver,” underscored the continued urgency of bringing effective HIV prevention and treatment strategies to communities the world over. An estimated 20,000 participants participated, including scientists, health care providers, political, community and business leaders, journalists, government, non-governmental and intergovernmental representatives, and people living with HIV/AIDS.

As in previous years, UNIFEM participated in the conference and organized a number of panel discussions and workshops.
