UNIFEM Currents

The August issue focuses on a recent visit by UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador Nicole Kidman and Executive Director Inés Alberdi to highlight the urgency of addressing gender-based violence among earthquake-affected populations, and to stress the critical need to support long-term initiatives that advance women’s livelihoods as part of the rebuilding efforts. The issue also provides an update on preparations to make the newly established UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, fully operational by January 2011. read issue »  archives »
